The Order That Preserves Memory

An archive is not merely a place of preservation: it is the very condition that enables study, research, and the transmission of thought. Thanks to Matilde's meticulous and valuable work, Gianfranco Chiavacci's library today regains the order he himself desired—an order that is not merely a practical criterion, but a reflection of the internal structure of rigorous and systematic thought.

Over 2,400 volumes, now traceable and studyable, reveal not only the books themselves, but the traces of an intellectual journey: the readings, the stimuli, and the references that have nourished decades of artistic and theoretical research. Restoring order to a library means restoring accessibility to the thought that built it.

It is precisely in gestures like this—patient, silent, indispensable—that the true value of an archive is measured: not only in the preservation of the works, but in the care of everything that allows us to understand them.
